KBS056:MCSE Scale-up Experiment
The MCSE Scale-up Experiment examined the scalability of plot-scale results from the annual cropping systems of the Main Cropping System Experiment (MCSE) at the LTER Main Site to field-scale conclusions. The MCSE Conventional (T1), Reduced-input (T3), and Biologically based (T4) management practices were each replicated in three commercially managed fields in the KBS landscape, with each crop in the corn-soybean-wheat rotation as an entry point for a total of 3x3x3 = 27 fields. The experiment was established in 2006 and retired in 2013. Agronomic yields and spatial yields were routinely monitored.

Tables
- KBS056-001 Agronomic Yields
Agronomic grain yields of corn, soybean, and wheat harvests, reported at standard moisture, from the commercially managed fields of the MCSE Scale-up Experiment.
- KBS056-002 Geo-referenced Agronomic Yields – Processed
Geo-referenced grain yields of corn, soybean and wheat from the commercially managed fields of the MCSE Scale-up Experiment as calculated by the John Deere Ag Office software and exported as shapefiles. Data were collected using the GPS yield monitor on the LTER combine.
- KBS056-003 Geo-referenced Agronomic Yields – Raw Data
Raw data on geo-referenced grain yields of corn, soybean, and wheat from the commercially managed fields of the MCSE Scale-up Experiment as collected by the GPS yield monitor on the LTER combine.
- KBS056-004 Wheat Straw Yields
Wheat straw yields from fields of the MCSE Scale-up Experiment under Conventional management (T1), reported as dry matter.
- KBS056-005 Geo-referenced Agronomic Yields – Cleaned Data
Cleaned data on geo-referenced grain yields of corn, soybean, and wheat from the commercially managed fields of the MCSE Scale-up Experiment, as collected by the GPS yield monitor on the LTER combine. The cleaning procedure removes all data collected when the combine header is up.
- KBS065-003 Crop in Rotation by Field
A list of the crop grown by year for each field of the MCSE Scale-up Experiment. Each management treatment (T1, T3, T4) had three field replicates with each entry point in the corn-soybean-wheat rotation represented for a total of 3x3x3=27 fields.
