Forest DBH - Raw Data
The raw DBH (tree diameter at breast height) values from the forested sites, diameters are measured at 4 points along the trunk.
This datatable is part of the Forest Increment Survey dataset. In 1998, a new protocol was instituted for measuring the diameters of every tree greater than 5 cm dbh in the coniferous and deciduous forest plots. Trees are usually measured in January. Exponential equations are used to estimate tree mass for each year. The goal is to estimate wood production for any given time period (usually one year) as the difference between two estimates of mass.

|Core Areas||Primary Production,Populations,Disturbance|
|sample date||day the tree was measured|
|year||sample year (this is the year to which the sample is assigned, even if the actual sample date is in the following year)|
|tree id||id of the tree sampled|
|color||location of the dbh measurement|
|estimated||Set to true if the dbh has been estimated from the previous and following years.|
