Insect Populations via Sticky Traps — Main Cropping System Experiment (MCSE)
Data in the KBS LTER core database may not be published without written permission of the lead investigator or project director Full terms of use
Identification and abundance of plant dwelling predator insect species adhering to sticky traps after one week of deployment throughout the growing season. Insects are classified by species, family, and order. Traps are placed in each treatment, replicate, and station combination; trap location coordinates are given in UTM 16N.
This datatable is part of the Insect Population Dynamics on the Main Cropping System Experiment dataset.
This dataset contains the abundance of plant dwelling insects in the Main Cropping System Experiment (MCSE), including Treatments 1-7 at the LTER Main Site (since 1989) and the Successional (TSF) and Forested sites (TCF and TDF, since 1993) using the yellow sticky trap method. The focus of this effort is on the temporal and spatial abundance and diversity of adult herbivore predators, primarily species of Coccinellidae but also members of Chrysopidae, Lampyridae, and others as encountered. Sampling is conducted weekly during the growing season as described in the sampling protocol.
